Nuala Hehir on Irish accordion and Liz Gaughan on fiddle

A set of jigs from button accordion player Nuala Hehir from Ennis, Co. Clare and fiddle player Liz Gaughan, originally from Manchester, England and now living in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. They learned the first tune from Clare concertina player Gearóid O’Halloran and they associate the second with the late Joe Liddy, fiddle player and composer from Co. Leitrim.

Crawdad Wranglers sing Jambalaya at Bread and Roses fest, cajun accordion

The band continues to perform throughout New England. Guido Deiro World’s Foremost Piano-Accordionist – Part 1

#1 The Overture from I Capuleti e I Montecchi.(Bellini) Performed by: Count Guido Deiro (1886 – 1950) Italian born composer and Vaudeville headliner who introduced (1910), named and popularized the piano-accordion in America. The first to play the instrument onstage, on the radio, in film (Vitaphone) and sound recordings (Edison). Known as the virtuoso of the accordion he was the first accordionist to play the “Palace” and composed the theme music for the Broadway hit “Kismet”. Deiro discovered, professionally developed and married the teenaged Mae West. They performed on the same bill for nearly four years.(1913-1916). Accordion player Jimmy Keane and Fiddle Player Seán Cleland

A set of jigs by piano accordion player Jimmy Keane and fiddle player Seán Cleland, both from Chicago. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann lovers will remember the great duet between Jimmy and Liz Carroll when they won the Duets title in Buncrana in the late 1970s. Here they play “The Ships in Full Sail”, “The Bohola Jig” and “The Irishman’s Heart to the Ladies”. They were recorded at the 2008 Comhaltas North American Convention, held in the Hilton Hotel at Parsippany, New Jersey between the 26th and 30th of March.
