Cool to find this video. I met Jay Cormier on my way east to Daytona from San Diego. He was the house band at Mulates. That was in Oct. 2003. I wore my yellow T shirt from Mulates, which my sister had bought for me earlier! I remember he turned to the band and said in French, ” Hey you guys, a Comeau from California!” Mulates was run by a woman named Goldie Comeau. I bought Jay’s CD and still have it. I made sure I went down to the waters edge to touch Bayou Teche. I’m 11th generation Acadian.

Hello Lousiana, Just been out to dinner at one of my favourite resturants near my home in Northern Ireland where they were playing great Cajun Music, which inspired me to order delicious Cajun Chicken from the menu. Need I say that it was delicious, but obviously with a great Northern Irish twist to the flavour.
Guinness was also imbibed. Say no more.

I have never heard from Jay and I wonder if he is aware of the three videos I posted with him and his band. One of them has garnered the most hits of any video I have on YouTube and now that number is at 1422.

My dad has been the drummer with Jay for many years! i was always listening to them at mulates! jamie is playing the drums, so i guess dad was out of town at the time
He has also been the drummer for Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys for the past 20 years. Dad just started a new upcoming band called “High Performance” and they play at mulates sometimes now. So Check em out sometime!

I’ve played with Jay and the band when I’ve visited from the UK – they’re light years above “average bar musicans” – the fiddle player and drummer in this video are not regulars – they’re depping. Jay’s regular fiddle player is Jamie Bearb and his drummer Kevin Dugas of the Grammy-nominated Mamou Playboys
