Cajun Accordion (KNIRI TUNING) Hohner One Row, Melodeon, Alternate Tuning “Blues Oergeli”
The accordion (Hohner 1 Row 114 C) shown in the video,
has a special circular tuning “in the circle of 5th”, *Kniri Tuning 221*
I came up with some alternative tunings for diatonic Accordions. The one row Cajun-Accordions do usually have the ‘Richter’ tuning.
I was looking for an easier way to play the Blues with the common three chords (C, F and G7 in the key of C). After playing around for some time I found a continuous mathematical scale (“221″ Scale) for diatonic Instruments with 10 Buttons. This means that the notes do always have the same steps(221221221221…..2=wholetone, 1=halftone) This allows to play on the same Instrument 5 different Major and Minor scales and 16 different triads, which are related/similar to the circle of fifths.
A more detailed description of this alternate accordion tunig system can be found at

Yes …
@BmoreBusker
Yes you can can use the bass side for playing in two keys.
But most I play without the bass side for playing in different keys.
A repairer retuned the accordion for me.
On my website you can see a retuning scheme
RICHTER TUNING in F to KNIRI TUNING 221 in G
Greetings Kniri
You can play in two …
You can play in two keys with the bass side, so I assume you mean that they both wouldn’t be altered
Did you tune that Hohner yourself? Did you have to put different sized reeds in for certain notes on the treble side?
I’ve been scanning through your blog. You have some awesome posts on here, especially this one – I really enjoyed it…nice post. Consider yourself bookmarked
