It’s really characteristic of jazz drummers to only accent the 2 and 4 beats and it’s known for actually aiding in the rhythm keeping of the band.
Accenting 2 and 4 should actually help you out once you get used to it.

When I look at him …
When I look at him I see that it is very hard for him to play. I suppose several more years of practice would get him into the state where he wouldn’t have to look at the keyboard any more and where he would smile when he plays because this is such a beautiful song. Only when you don’t have to think about the technique but feel the song and play effortlessly then you are a true virtuoso…

    thank you so much! …
thank you so much! my accordion is 65 years old, it hasn’t got registers for basses :( :( WTF xD
Anyway, I understood the way of playing…I will try, thanks… I hope I will manage to without losing the rythm

  • FolkAccordeon:

    there are probably …
there are probably a few differences:
    - first: he uses a ‘high register’ without a deep bass-sound.
    - second, he often leaves out the ‘ground-bass’ (so he only plays the chord-bass on the second and fourth count). this way you get the accents on the two and the four, which is characteristic for reels.
